8th Annual BNYP/Autism McLean Garage Sale Fundraiser for Autism Camp

BNYPThe Bloomington-Normal Young Professional Kiwanis Club will be hosting the 8th annual Autism McLean Garage Sale Fundraiser on Saturday, October 14, 2017.

All proceeds from the garage sale will be given to Autism McLean for Autism Camp.

Autism Camp is dedicated to providing a valuable experience for children on the autism spectrum in a natural outdoor setting on Lake Bloomington. Children have the opportunity to engage in typical camp activities, including, canoeing, swimming, horseback riding, games, and much more in a safe and supportive atmosphere.

The cost for camp is $225-$250 per child. The money raised by our fundraiser will help pay the way for kids who could otherwise not afford to attend camp. You can read more about Autism Camp here.

Here’s how you can help:

  • Donate garage-sale worthy items for the garage sale. If you’re interested in donating in advance of the garage sale please contact Craig Luchtefeld, at c.luchtefeld@autismmclean.org. The more items donated, the more money we can raise, and the more kids we can send to camp!
  • We will have early drop-off on the following dates/times at the garage sale location:
    • Monday, October 9th from 5:30 PM – 7:30 PM
    • Wednesday, October 11th from 5:30 PM – 7:30 PM
    • Friday, October 13th from 5:30 PM – 7:30 PM
    • We’ll have volunteers to help unload and sort your items.
  • If you have items you’d like to donate but cannot make one of the early drop-off dates, please contact Craig Luchtefeld at c.luchtefeld@autismmclean.org and we’ll do our best to work out a time to retrieve your items.

Calling All Club Members!

As the new year is beginning, the Directors are working hard with each committee to get the ball going on all of our wonderful projects, events and development of our club. We are looking for our amazing members (that’s you!) to sign up for a committee and show us all your amazing skills. Together we can make this club the best it can be!

Below you will find a list of all available committees and a brief description. If you have any questions, feel free to email the Director. Once you ave decided which committee you would like to join, email me (secretary@bnyp.org) with your choice and we will get you added and off to greatness. Or you can sign up at the November and December club meetings.

  • Greet and introduce guests at club meetings and events.
  • Respond to all membership inquiries.
  • Follow up with guests to attend meetings and events.
  • Develop and oversee annual membership campaign to bring in new membership.

  • Organize and oversee club service activities each month.
  • Solicit service ideas from other club members.

Social Committee : Director Babs Allen (social@bnyp.org)

  • Organize monthly club happy hour including securing location and promoting event within the club.
  • Organize any club outing to major events.
  • Organize all interclub trips to other Kiwanis clubs in Division 22 including scheduling and recruitment of participants.

Marketing Committee : Director Andrew Lenahan (marketing@bnyp.org)

  • Maintain all sources of social media for the club.
  • Keep the club website, bnyp.org, up to date.

Fundraising Committee : Director Michelle Ginnetti (fundraising@bnyp.org)

  • Organize all fundraising activities for the club.

  • All unsold donated items will be given to the Mission Mart, Home Sweet Home, ReStore, etc.

Here’s how you can help:

Where: The Corn Crib (1000 West Raab Road in Normal. It is just East of Heartland Community college; just West of Main Street.)

All proceeds from the garage sale will be given to ASMC for Autism Camp.

Autism Camp is dedicated to providing a valuable experience for children on the autism spectrum in a natural outdoor setting on Lake Bloomington. Children have the opportunity to engage in typical camp activities, including, canoeing, swimming, horseback riding, games, and much more in a safe and supportive atmosphere.

The cost for camp last year was $$225 per child. The money raised by our fundraiser will either lower the cost of camp for all kids or pay the way for some kids who could otherwise not afford to attend camp.   • The garage sale will be on Saturday, April 21st from 7:00 AM to 2:30 PM.
  • The garage sale will be located in a large vacant storefront between Home Choice and Outback Steakhouse in the Lakewood Plaza on Veterans Parkway.
  • The garage sale itself will be a ‘name your price’ garage sale – no listed prices. The goal is to sell each and every item.
  • All unsold donated items will be given to the Mission Mart, Home Sweet Home, etc., or thrown away.

Here’s how you can help:
