8th Annual BNYP/Autism McLean Garage Sale Fundraiser for Autism Camp

BNYPThe Bloomington-Normal Young Professional Kiwanis Club will be hosting the 8th annual Autism McLean Garage Sale Fundraiser on Saturday, October 14, 2017.

All proceeds from the garage sale will be given to Autism McLean for Autism Camp.

Autism Camp is dedicated to providing a valuable experience for children on the autism spectrum in a natural outdoor setting on Lake Bloomington. Children have the opportunity to engage in typical camp activities, including, canoeing, swimming, horseback riding, games, and much more in a safe and supportive atmosphere.

The cost for camp is $225-$250 per child. The money raised by our fundraiser will help pay the way for kids who could otherwise not afford to attend camp. You can read more about Autism Camp here.

Here’s how you can help:

  • Donate garage-sale worthy items for the garage sale. If you’re interested in donating in advance of the garage sale please contact Craig Luchtefeld, at c.luchtefeld@autismmclean.org. The more items donated, the more money we can raise, and the more kids we can send to camp!
  • We will have early drop-off on the following dates/times at the garage sale location:
    • Monday, October 9th from 5:30 PM – 7:30 PM
    • Wednesday, October 11th from 5:30 PM – 7:30 PM
    • Friday, October 13th from 5:30 PM – 7:30 PM
    • We’ll have volunteers to help unload and sort your items.
  • If you have items you’d like to donate but cannot make one of the early drop-off dates, please contact Craig Luchtefeld at c.luchtefeld@autismmclean.org and we’ll do our best to work out a time to retrieve your items.

Shoe sorting, 8/20, 1-3 PM

We will be sorting shoes this Sunday from 1-3 pm at Uncle Bills Storage unit E22. We will be sorting, banding, and bagging ALL the shoes we have collected prior to the kickoff this week.

BNYP Shoe Drive Fundraiser

The BNYP Kiwanis Club is excited to announce that we are hosting a Shoe Drive to raise funds for community and international projects!

Our goal is to collect 2,500 pairs of new and gently worn shoes between August 15th and October 15th. We will earn funds based on the total weight of the collected shoes, and those funds will be shared with Autism McLean, The Eliminate Project as well as other causes.

Anyone can help by donating gently worn, used and new shoes at the following locations:

Developing Melodies Music Therapy Center:

  • Tuesday, August 29, 11-1pm

PrairiErth Farm CSA Pickup (St John’s Lutheran Church on corner of Towanda and Emerson):

Social: Mackinaw Valley Winery, 7/16

Come hang with your fellow BNYPers at the Mackinaw Valley Winery on Sat, 7/16 from 6:30 – 10 (or however long).

We do this every year and it’s a ton of fun. Bring the family and enjoy great music and all that the winery has to offer!

Start your holiday shopping and support BNYP

On the first day of giving, Gingerbread House gave to me … a way to give, easy as can be!

The Gingerbread House is in the giving spirit and Bloomington-Normal Young Professionals Kiwanis will benefit! On Thursday, Nov. 12, the toy store will donate 10% of sales for the day to our organization.

How can you help? Simply stop by the Gingerbread House (603 South Hannah Street, Bloomington) on Nov. 12 and pick up a few selections from your holiday shopping list. 10% of the total sales that day comes to us!

That’s it. Simple and elegant, no coupons, no letting them know the purchase is for our group. Check off a to-do, get some great quality toys, and help support our organization!
