7th Annual BNYP Garage Sale Fundraiser for Autism Camp Update

The 7th Annual BNYP Garage Sale Fundraiser for Autism Camp total was down from past years, but was still a good haul. In the end, we raised $2500. That’s the equivalent of sending 10 kids to camp, cost-free.

The check will be presented to the Autism McLean board on Thursday, May 4th, 2016.

The garage sale fundraiser is done, annually, in April as April is National Autism Awareness Month. Check out Autism McLean‘s website for more information about autism-related events in Bloomington-Normal.

Pictures from the garage sale are up on our Flickr site.

Many thanks to the Autism McLeanSugarOak Management ServicesDistrict 87, GLT, to everyone that donated items for the garage sale, and last, but not least, all of the fantastic volunteers from BNYP, Autism McLean, ISU’s Tri Sigma Epsilon Omicron, family members, and friends that helped make this year’s garage sale a success!

We had a lot of fun working with everyone who contributed to make this a success again this year. Lots of planning, long hours, lots of elbow grease (in the form of folding clothes, sorting stuff, and moving large objects) helped make this happen yet again this year.

We’re looking forward to hearing how well Autism Camp goes and can’t wait to help again next year.… read more

7th Annual BNYP Garage Sale Fundraiser for Autism Camp

BNYPThe Bloomington-Normal Young Professional Kiwanis Club will be hosting the 7th annual Autism McLean Garage Sale Fundraiser on Saturday, April 16, 2016.

All proceeds from the garage sale will be given to Autism McLean for Autism Camp.

Autism Camp is dedicated to providing a valuable experience for children on the autism spectrum in a natural outdoor setting on Lake Bloomington. Children have the opportunity to engage in typical camp activities, including, canoeing, swimming, horseback riding, games, and much more in a safe and supportive atmosphere.

The cost for camp is $225-$250 per child. The money raised by our fundraiser will help pay the way for kids who could otherwise not afford to attend camp. You can read more about Autism Camp here.

Here are the details:

  • The garage sale will be on Saturday, April 16th, 2016 from 7:00 AM to 1:00 PM @ the Crossroads Center, 310 Wylie Drive, Suite 450, Normal, IL (1 mile from the Interstate Center)
  • The garage sale itself will be a “name your own price” garage sale – no listed prices. The goal is to sell each and every item.

BNYP_ASMC_Garage_Sale_LocationHere’s how you can help:

  • Donate garage-sale worthy items for the garage sale. If you’re interested in donating in advance of the garage sale please contact Craig Luchtefeld, at craig@2400baud.com or 309-319-6006. The more items donated, the more money we can raise, and the more kids we can send to camp!

    • Monday, April 11th from 5:30 PM – 7:30 PM
    • Wednesday, April 13th from 5:30 PM – 7:30 PM
    • Friday, April 15th from 5:30 PM – 7:30 PM
    • We’ll have volunteers to help unload and sort your items.
  • If you have items you’d like to donate but cannot make one of the early drop-off dates, please contact Craig Luchtefeld at craig@2400baud.com or 309-319-6006 and we’ll work out a time to retrieve your items.
  • If you’d like to volunteer to help unload or sort items at any one of the early drop-off times, we’d very much appreciate the help! You can register to volunteer here: http://bit.ly/1Thwkub.
  • If you’d like to make a monetary donation in lieu of donating garage sale items, we’d welcome the donation!
